** Do it at your own risk! ** I give all my credits to FalconFour, EVHub and Wildib23 in TMC https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc ** Short URL of this page https://tinyurl.com/tesla-ccs-retrofit To retrofit Tesla Model 3 NA version (with TPC) to use CCS1/CCS2 SC, you need to buy a TPC-CCS1 or CCS2 adapter, and replace your NA (North America version) CP ECU to a CCS-enabled ECU 2022/7/4 I asked@Alex, an Ukrainian in Kyiv, to buy an airplane fluffy toy An-255 "Mriya" for me (dream, the largest airplane in the world, was destoried in the war) as I will donate other thing to their country. The parcel flew for two months from Ukraine to Taiwan finally. It's hard to imagine that Alex was willing to go the post office and send this to me when Russian just shelling their city. I don't know if I would be in the mood to do these things if we were attacked. Hope the war ends soon Acronyms: SC=Supercharger EU=Europe NA=North America TPC=Tesla Proprietary Connector CP=Charge Port EU CP ECU == Supports CCS only NA CP ECU with ending 00-B = Supports both CCS & TPC NA CP ECU with ending 80-B = Supports TPC only Facts: A car with NA GEN3 ECU car can swap to EU GEN3 ECU without modification. Can use all CCS1/CCS2 SC execpt Tesla's V3 CCS2 SC ** side-effect, unable to use Tesla TPC SC, charging port door cannot remote open by the button on the stock Tesla charger A car with NA GEN4 ECU car can swap to EU GEN4 ECU without modification. A car with NA GEN3 ECU car want to swap to EU GEN4 ECU must have some modification, refer to FalconFour in TMC. All ECUs support J1772 / Tesla stock wall charger/mobile charger. **************************************** Gen3 P/Ns: 1092755-82-B - EU spec (has PLC) ==> no support TESLA TPC SC, but support CCS ==> tested with TESLA CCS2 SC in V2 and V3, and third-party CCS2 SC (eTAIL) , all works perfectly. 1092755-98-D - NA spec (older rev?) ==> only support TESLA TPC SC ** TW 1092755-99-D - NA spec (no PLC) 1092755-04-B - South Korea spec ==> Support both TPC/CCS ? not sure Gen4 P/Ns: ================================== 1537264-00-B - NA spec ==>support both TESLA TPC SC & CCS ===> must use FalconFour's mysterious kit if you use this CP ECU in GEN3 car ==> stock Tesla CCS1-TPC adapter can be used directly without modification. Tested: Tesla TPC SC => work (v2,v3) Tesla CCS2 SC => v2 work, v3 no work==> cp_a139 'Charging equipment reports error' , Thrid-party CCS2 SC (eTail, iCharging) => work 1537264-80-B - NA spec (stripped of PLC) ==> only support TESLA TPC SC 1537264-20-B - EU spec ==> no TESLA TPC SC, only support CCS SC ================================================ For a older car with original ECU / Gen3 1092755-98-D or 1092755-99-D, the simplest way is to swap to an Europe version EU CP ECU to 1092755-82-B, to enable the car to use CCS SC with an CCS adapter. ==> Warning: this retrofit will also cause you no longer to use TESLA TPC SC, but all CCS SC will be supported. Alternatively, you can swap a GEN3 CP ECU to GEN4 CP ECU 1537264-00-B, but it need extra works to build a circuit made by @FalconFour (ref: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/retrofit-ccs-compatibility-onto-earlier-na-model-3-diy-approach.251046/ ) ==> Should work both Tesla's TPC SC and CCS2 SC. =============== The procedure for swapping CP ECU from GEN3 NA to GEN3 EU. The stock CP ECU is "1092755-98-D", and I swap it to "1092755-82-B". No other parts need to modify, everything seems ok until now, except the main screen will pop up an alert: “CP_a051 Charge port may not open when the charger's door pressed". You will no long to use TPC SC, but only can do SC with Tesla-CCS1/2 adapter. This had been verified with Tesla TPC/CCS2 SC and 3rd-party CCS2 SC (Delta co.ltd equipment), they are work perfectly. You can still use AC TPC charger/J1772 charger as normal. 1. Drive to a Telsa service center and enter 'service mode', disable speed limit. Drive the car to home. Video Tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/_I0J5sT-69E ==> connect to WiFi,"request for software update" in service mode, and wait for 'yellow alarm'! Make sure you have yellow alarm before do the swap. 2. Unplug 12v battery and main battery. Car shut down. ==> Be aware that open the front and back trunk, and driver's side door before shut down the car, or you will maybe locked in car. Video Tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-cMdnFzvsA 3. Swap ECU. Video Tutorial: https://youtu.be/F73rmZSyl14?t=138 4. Connect the 12v battery and main battery back. Car power-on. 5. Some alerts will pop up, including "Unable to charge car" and "Need software update" (I am not sure whether the English is exactly as I am in Chinese version menu) 6. Update the software immediately. I prefer keep the car's door open before update progress or you maybe locked in car. It may takes up to30 minutes. After successful update, everything is ok except CP_a051 alert. 7. And I'm told (here) that that part can be ordered new directly from Tesla (may be a wait to receive?).
